Karnataka Govt has formed a committee to finalize the subsidy model to enable meritorious students get seats in prominent private colleges at a low fee. As per 2006 CET act there must be only one test. Now there are several tests conducted by various engineering colleges. This is likely to change. Govt is trying to change the CET act to incorporate management seats also. The panel will decide on the number tests, seats, the subsidy for meritorious students in reputed colleges, management quota fees etc. The panel is not likely to allow colleges to charge limitless fees for management seats.
The subsidy committee will be headed by the medical education department secretary, higher education department principal secretary. Higher educ ation minister RV Desh pande, medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil held consultations on Thursday with private college managements, to put the admission process in place for 2015.
