The COMEDK - Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental has yet again increased the college fee this year. The fee for most colleges last year was 1.25 Lakhs (2011). But this year it has been increased to 1.375 Lakhs. Thats a whopping Rs. 12,500 extra i.e. 10% more. This is actually extremely high for the amount of resources that the college provide. It has been increasing every year and students and their parents are getting frustrated with the colleges.
The fact that they are giving the same services for around Rs. 37,000 for the CET students shows that the college’s investment on the infrastructure and faculty does not meet the mark. Also along with this fee all colleges also ask for an extra college fee which ranges from around Rs. 13,000 – Rs. 35,000 depending on the college that one is joining. Here’s what one of the Engineering Student (2nd Year) had said about this ever rising college fee.
If the colleges want 5 Lakhs per annum they should insist on it and also give equivalent privileges, infrastructure and faculty. But, that does not mean that the colleges can keep increasing the price for the college fee and keep the infrastructure and faculty just the same. I have seen how in-efficient the faculty is in many of these colleges in Karnataka. If the students have nothing to say about this, they will increase the college fee even further and the same will happen after that as well.
